Colin’s travels continue to give out that special message

  Posted March 4, 2019

Very soon our intrepid traveller, Colin will be out and about visiting different events and locations to offer support and advice to our Veterans who have suffered a hearing loss as a result of military Service.  UK Veterans Hearing help believe that it is important that we get to meet the Veterans rather than rely on emails or phone calls as so much more can be achieved with personal contact.

Although this is not Colin’s first of the year event, two are planned for very shortly so, if you happen to be in the area or at the event, why not come and say hello and have a chat about any hearing problem that you may have.  First on the map this year will be Wartime in the Cotswold 27/28th April and a short summary of the event – Come and visit our nostalgic 1940’s weekend at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. 2019’s event will have an emphasis on the Home Front. Transport yourself back to September 1940 and imagine you are waiting for a train at a small station on the Great Western Railway. Children are being evacuated, soldiers are going back to barracks and aircrew are heading off to airfields in the South and West. “Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag, and smile, smile, smile.” More details can be found on their Website at https://bit.ly/2UldpDF.

The second visit is back to the Midlands with a visit to Cannock Museum on 4th May who are going back in time to the 1940s with many different events taking place on the day.  More information can be seen in the poster and once again, if you are in the area, then please come and say hello after all, we want to help you gain a better quality of life.  More details can be found on their website at https://bit.ly/2NF3J4q but a brief summary of the event is Celebrate the end of WW2 in style with our annual VE Day event. Re-enactors, vintage vehicles, stalls, Black Market cream teas, dig for victory corner, Henderson Big Band, lindy hop lessons with Dance with me Henry, rationed food, WW2 displays, vintage hair salon and more to be announced.

Look forward to meeting as many Veterans and their families at both events.
