Getting blown away in Essex

  Posted August 12, 2019

Colin and Lydia ventured to Purleigh in Essex to join in with the Echoes of Ware event however, with winds gusting to over 50 miles per hour, it was decided not to set up on the Saturday particularly when a rather large tent lifted off the ground heading in their direction.  Fortunately a van and a car stopped the tent in its flight but did cause some severe damage to both – if it had travelled any further it could have cause personal injury for certain.

Sunday was a little better with winds of up to 20 miles per hour but this did not put off our gallant events team who regularly had to hold on to the Gazebo despite it being anchored down with weights and tie downs.  The attendance at the event was obviously affected by the harsh weather conditions but we did manage to speak to a number of Veterans who took up the challenge of obtaining hearing devices and of course a better way of life.  Some very special guests came to the stand in the way of Chelsea Pensioners who were extremely impressed with the facility and service provided by UKVHH.  In fact they took away a number of brochures for their colleagues who were suffering from a hearing lost as a result of military Service.

Despite the weather the show did go on and several military enactments took place to entertain the crowds.  Overall, another success story for UKVHH
