The purpose of a referral to Occupational Health is to enable employees and their managers/supervisors to seek medical advice and support from an Occupational Health Physician or Nurse. They are fully accommodating to an employee with a health condition or disability and offer other support where necessary.
There are various things that an employee can be referred for which you can see from the list below. Once the technicians have done their initial assessment, if any of the employee’s need a referral, they are then handed over to our referrals department. Sophie or Annmarie will then get in touch with the company concerned to offer their assistance. We want to make sure that the company and their employee’s will get the correct advice to keep everyone safe in the workplace.

It is a HSE regulation that an employee is offered a referral when needed, even if they have an existing medical condition that is currently being or has previously been treated through their own GP/Specialist. This is because an Occupational Health Physician is separate from a GP/Specialist and ensures the employee is safe within the workplace.
