Weston super Mare Armed Forces Day was buzzing this weekend with many air displays and stalls for all the family. Colin and Lydia ventured down to the coast once again to enjoy meeting up with other similar charities and of course the many Veterans who were suffering from a hearing loss due to military Service. The noise of the aircraft above including several simulated explosions on the beach emphasised how noisy it can be in a military environment and many Veterans took the opportunity of talking to both Colin and Lydia and taking up the opportunity of an improved quality of life.
Both explained what UKVHH was about and often heard comments that it was a much needed service which, at the moment, very little was known about. When they were there, Colin visited several other charities including the RBL and RAFA Care Homes and met up with many Veterans who were more than pleased to take up the journey of improving their hearing through UKVHH.
Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse and Sunday’s attendance as well as the air displays was curtailed due to the low cloud and rain. Despite this both Colin and Lydia enjoyed their time meeting up with others there and being able to offer the sterling service and after care UKVHH gives to those needy Veterans. Tongue in cheek comment which just has to be “Owls about that then” as we managed to encourage a Rescued European Eagle Owl to pose for the camera.
